Having remote employees is a good benefit for the company but you need to know how to manage them. Communication is probably one of the most important parts. Using video conferencing is probably the best way to communicate so that you can see and hear the other person but having a chat platform is also good. Having a document management system like Google Drive is good for sharing documents and files so you do not have to rely so much on e-mails and waiting for the other person to respond. Another good way to manage remote employees would be to set expectation. Make sure they know what you expect out of them and when. Tracking their work is also key. You want to make sure that they are doing what they are actually supposed to be doing. Lastly, make sure that they feel part of the team. Sometimes when people work remote they don’t feel like they are a part of the team as much.
