There are different types of leadership in the business world. There is the “go-getter” full steam ahead sort of leadership that drives people to accomplish goals through various tasks.
There’s the “on-track” style of leadership that project manages teams from behind and let’s them achieve what they need to in order to keep the business progressing.
There’s the “top-down” leadership that simply delegates all of the responsibilities of a particular duty or task to the people in place below.
And then there’s another type of leadership…it’s what is known as “thought leadership.” What is thought leadership?
The thought leader is one who leads from the wisdom garnered only by experience. A thoughtful leader is one who has made decisions, learned from and by them, and is now applying that learning to the future of the business in front of them.
It’s not to say that thought leadership is the best style of leadership; at the end of the day what must be recognized is that it’s intrinsic to leadership as a whole. Anyone who is in any position of leadership is a thought leader to some degree or another. It is typically that degree of thought leadership which will determine how successful the business is as a whole.
